Luxor Airport GuideAirport Code: LXR Luxor airport is 4 miles / 6 km east of the historic city. The airport was upgraded in 2005 to accommodate more passengers, and is currently Egypt’s fourth-biggest airport. Airport facilities include currency exchange, restaurants, post office and shopping, including duty-free. Wheelchairs are available for disabled passengers – airlines can provide them if notified in advance. To travel to Luxor from the airport, there is a regular bus service to the city centre which takes around 15 minutes. This can be busy and crowded at times, so you may prefer a private taxi or limousine if you wish to travel in style! Car hire is available within the airport. Tour operator transfer coaches operate from the airport to hotels in the area. Luxor is also the start point for most Nile cruises. Coach and taxi transfers to the cruise ships operate in much the same way as for a hotel transfer. More Information
