Luxor & the Nile

Enjoy a voyage of discovery as you cruise through 5,000 years of Egyptian history, then spend a relaxing week soaking up the culture of historic Luxor. Your flight to Luxor arrives on a Monday and you have the choice of joining your Nile cruise immediately then checking into your hotel for the second week, or instead you could spend the first week in Luxor, and then join the cruise the following Monday.

Day 1: Arriving in Luxor
Luxor, is the site of the ancient Egyptian capital, Thebes, and home to many of the most renowned monuments, tombs and temples. It is the starting point for your Nile cruise. On arrival at Luxor Airport, you will transfer by coach to your chosen cruise ship in Luxor by coach. The transfer takes around 30 minutes.

Day 2: The East Bank
After breakfast visit the East bank of Thebes and the Temples of Luxor and Karnak. At the vast open air museum of Karnak, marvel at the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 columns. In the afternoon, sail to Kom Ombo via Esna lock.

Day 3: Kom Ombo
The cruise continues via the impressive sight of Kom Ombo standing sentinel at a bend in the river. Visit this unusual double temple, built in 250BC to honour the crocodile-headed Sobek and the falcon-headed Horus, before sailing on to Aswan.

Day 4: Aswan
Make the most of the onboard facilities as you sail to the Aswan area. Alternatively, take time out for one of the optional excursions, such as an early morning trip to Abu Simbel (by air or by bus)* or a day trip to an Aswan Nubian Village national park*. During the evening, there is an optional excursion to the atmospheric Sound and Light show in the Philae Temple.

Day 5: Agilika
Spending the morning visiting the island of Agilika and Philae Temple, which was moved to the island between 1972 and 1980 to save it from flooding when the Aswan High Dam was built. After lunch, enjoy a romantic felucca or motor boat ride on the Nile (subject to weather conditions).

Day 6: Return to Luxor
Make the most of the onboard facilities as you sail back towards Luxor.

Day 7: Western Thebes
Travel to the West Bank of Thebes and the Valley of the Kings, the final resting place of a succession of mighty Pharaohs. Optional visit to Tutankhamun's tomb (please note that the surviving treasures now reside in the Cairo Museum). Other highlights include the imposing Temple of Hatshepsut, the gigantic Colossi of Memnon, which have stood in the Theban necropolis for the last 3400 years, and Medinet Habu, the mortuary temple of Rameses III. Enjoy your last evening in grand style with the optional Sound & Light show at Karnak.

Day 8-15: Luxor

On the Monday of your return to Luxor you will transfer by coach to your hotel for the second week of your holiday.

Luxor sits proudly on the east bank of the Nile, inviting visitors to explore its ancient past that spans back thousands of years. Often described as the world's greatest outdoor museum, you will be mesmerised by its beauty and inspired by its magnificent relics, whether you explore by foot, horse drawn caleche, white-sailed felucca boat or hot air balloon!

For those moments when you want to relax, the city's contemporary side provides a wealth of restaurants, cocktail bars and cafes, alongside bustling bazaars to purchase those all important reminders of this fascinating destination.

On the day of departure you will transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.

Nile Cruise & Stay

Combine the best of a relaxing holiday on Egypt's Red Sea coast with a voyage of discovery as you cruise through 5,000 years of Egyptian history. Enjoy 3 nights in Hurghada or Makadi Bay then transfer to Luxor to join a 7 night Nile cruise, with an inclusive, fully-guided itinerary. After your cruise, return to the coast for a further 4 nights by the Red Sea.

Day 1-3: Arrival in Hurghada / Makadi Bay
Arrive in Hurghada on Friday and transfer to your hotel there or in Makadi Bay. The cruise starts on Monday, so you can relax and enjoy the Red Sea until the itinerary commences.

Day 4: Arriving in Luxor

On the day of departure you will transfer to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
