Known as Thebes in ancient Egypt, Luxor today is split into three distinctive areas: the town of Luxor, the village of Karnak and the Theban necropolis, on the west bank. All three corners are well worth a visit, whether you explore by foot, horse drawn caleche, white-sailed felucca boat or hot air balloon!
