Diving in Sharm el SheikhSharm el Sheikh is one of Egypt's best loved diving spots, and with crystal clear waters, wonderful marine life to come face-to-face with and the Egyptian sun overhead, it's easy to see why. There are a number of different places to dive within Sharm el Sheikh – from White Knight bay, which is a great place to snorkel, Sharks Bay – although, don't expect any sharks! – and Na'ama Bay, the seafront heart of Sharm. Red Sea Holidays offers Dive Packages which can be booked at the time of your holiday, to ensure you can explore the underwater wonderland at the best time for you. Packages include dives suitable for complete beginners, and you can even spend a few days diving and complete your open water diver course in Sharm el Sheikh. For more experienced divers, you can choose to explore a number of sites over a one day, three day or five day dive package. For experienced divers, the reefs of Tiran and Ras Mohammed are popular, and only about 2 hours away from Sharm by boat. However, the level of popularity may mean you have to share the water with up to 50 other divers in peak season. Similarly, the wreck of the SS Thistlegorm – a British Merchant Navy ship sunk in 1941 – is a great wreck to explore but can be very busy during peak times. The marine life around Sharm el Sheikh includes a number of exotic fish, from schools of Barracudas to a number of shark species. Some fish can be dangerous or poisonous – especially stone fish and the moray eels – so divers should always be careful in the water. However, with trigger fish, manta rays, tuna and even turtles swimming in the warm waters, diving in Sharm el Sheikh is certainly an experience not to be missed. More Information |
